Max Emiliano Gonzales, also known by their artist name “GEMS”, can be classified as an activist, art educator, muralist, graffiti writer, curator, and much more. I am first and foremost a graffiti writer. As a primary career, I am a spray can muralist, but I am also and educator of many kinds: Skateboard Instructor at Switch and Signal Skatepark, Ice Hockey Coach (youth and adult), and Spray Can art Mentor. I am also a community organizer and an advocate for marginalized voices as I seek to create spaces and opportunities for diversity in any of the world I occupy.
